The Annual London to Brighton Mini Run has been held every year since the London & Surrey Mini Owners club conceived the idea in 1986. They have organised the popular event every year, and this year was the 29th run. The event was again sold out with 2,500 official passes plus many, many more visitors!
No prizes for guessing that the run goes from London to Brighton, starting in Crystal Palace Park and finishing with a car show, held on Madeira Drive and is one its biggest annual events.
There has always been a vast of array of old and new, weird and wonderful Mini’s on display with all the modifications you can imagine and more! With stalls catering for everything Mini, entertainment and camping, it makes for a great weekend!
Friend of ours and Mini enthusiast, Mike Clapham attended this year with his (pictured) shiny green 2000 Cooper and reported, “Very early start in Crystal Palace for the registration on a lovely warm clear sunny day. Before we set off there was a great chance to view other Minis of all varieties and talk with other Mini enthusiasts.”
“When eventually getting to Brighton’s famous Madeira Drive it was great to see so many fantastic classic Minis, with the vast majority showing some degrees of customisation.”
“There was the world record of how many people could fit into a Mini and the excellent show ‘n’ shine where many Minis were pieces of art. Lots of stalls to buy Mini related products and a nice opportunity to hit the beach.”
He concluded with “Overall, a great fun day out – looking forward to next years!”
