Cholmondeley Pageant of Power – Our favourites

Cholmondeley Pageant of Power – Our favourites

28 July 2014

Last month’s Cholmondeley Pageant of Power has been dubbed ‘it’s best yet’ as perfect weather beat down on the weekend full of classic car exhibitions, full on track action and generally a fun atmosphere that anyone could have enjoyed.

It’s safe to say the vast majority of the record 67,000 strong crowd made the most of the delectable collection of classic and contemporary Maseratis (celebrating their centenary anniversary), Lamborghinis and Ferraris to name a few- as well as a slice of delicious pizza or 3 as part of the Italian only theme.

Track Action
The history of the track can be traced back to the day that Tour Britannia, the classic race and rally tour, visited the castle at Cholmondeley for the first time in 2006. The 1.2 mile course that was improved in 2008 homes a variety of classic and GT sports cars for a racing weekend.

Although hosting a wide range of makes, models and unique vehicles competing for the Fastest Lap in their designated category, here are a few of our favourites. Which one is yours?

1959 Maserati Birdcage – Perhaps better known as a Tip 61, this very first birdcage Maserati to be imported from the US with chassis No. 2543 has won more European Races than any other of its kind. Lighter than any other sports car of its time, it’s no wonder this classic enjoyed success and is of proud ownership of British Racing driver Alan Minshaw.

1907 Itala – Racing last weekend, this true old school classic was restored in 2007 to take part in the centenary ‘Peking to Paris’ rally. It truly has travelled far and wide to be enjoyed at Events and International Rallies and has stolen our hearts again at the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.

Napier Bentley

1929 Napier Bentley – Napier Lions Motors might be more famous for powering the first aircraft to fly non-stop from the UK to Australia, although you would be forgiven if you mistake this classic car for being able to achieve the same feat. Its 24 Litre W-12 engine smashes 0.25 miles in less than 14 seconds, making it a classic car that’s hard to ignore.

If you are lucky enough to own a classic car of any description that you would like to insure why not give Cherished Vehicle Insurance Services a call to discuss with a member of our team?
